    Description

The Fault In Our Stars is a witty and touching story narrated by Hazel, a 16 year old cancer patient, who falls in love with Augustus Waters, a 17 year old whom she meets at a support group which she is forced to attend by her parents.

    Summary Of The Book

The Fault In Our Stars is inspired by the author’s experiences while working with children suffering from life threatening diseases in a hospital. It is a witty, thrilling and heartbreaking story of a sixteen year old girl, Hazel, who is a cancer patient, and is forced by her parents to attend the Cancer Kid Support Group. Through her friend Isaac, she encounters Augustus Waters, an amputee and ex-basketball player. After the support group ends, Augustus suggests that they watch a movie at his house. There, they talk a lot and he gets to know of her favourite novel, An Imperial Affliction.

After reading it, he too gets as obsessed with it as Hazel is. They begin to spend a lot of time together and soon fall in love. Augustus decides to use his wish from ‘The Genies’, a fictionalized version of the Make a Wish Foundation, to fly Hazel and himself to Amsterdam to meet the author of the book, Peter van Houten. What happens next is a funny yet touching tale of two young lovers, fighting a life threatening disease against all odds. It promises to touch the heart of the readers and show them the true meaning of being alive and in love.

The Fault In Our Stars was a number one bestseller as per The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. It has been translated into numerous languages such as German, French, Chinese, Dutch and Portuguese. A film based on the book is slated for release in 2014 by Fox 2000, a division of 20th Century Fox. It is going to be directed by Josh Boone and will star Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort.

    Loved it..!!!

“May I see you again?" he asked. There was an endearing nervousness in his voice.

    I smiled. "Sure."

    "Tomorrow?" he asked.

"Patience, grasshopper," I counseled. "You don't want to seem overeager.

"Right, that's why I said tomorrow," he said. "I want to see you again tonight. But I'm willing to wait all night and much of tomorrow." I rolled my eyes. "I'm serious," he said.

"You don't even know me," I said. I grabbed the book from the center console. "How about I call you when I finish t...

John Green's excellency on full display.

What can I say, John Green has played his magic fantastically in The Fault In Our Stars. I was hooked from the first chapter. The guy knows perfectly fine how to capture our feelings and squeeze out the laughs and the tears.
I absolutely fell in love with the way he depicts the character of Augustus Waters. I can't even get jealous of Hazel 'cause even her character is so wonderfully pictured.
Coming down to the real world...cancer. This book made me cry and now I feel it in my bones HOW th...

    The Fault in Our Stars

The fault in Our Stars by John Green is an amazing book. I was little curious about it when I noticed that this book had topped best selling charts of the New York Times. I knew it was meant for young readers which I am not really at fifty two; however, I was eager to know about the general taste of English language readers, and specifically of the teenagers of America.
Being myself a writer from India, I was looking for the elements that had made the book a hit. I had an impression that perh...

    Holy smokes, it's brilliant

This is the most brilliant book ever. I love the story. I love John Green. I loved the ending. Everything. I was weeping in the end. If you want to buy a book, this is one of the best. Worth the money, time and a lot more. The book itself is a decent size and feels good in the hand.

    Infinite emotions within finite pages..

To be honest, I was a bit hesitant to order this book considering its genre - Young adult literature..but I just couldn't ignore the "buy" button after I read it was John's best work until now.... I am extremely glad I bought this masterpiece...

It's difficult to find a book which entertains and preaches you at the same time..(In a non-preachy way..) ...but this one went way beyond my expectations...it made me changed the way I looked at life...It made me realize that life is too short to i...

A heart breaking and a realistic novel by Mr. John Green which taught me that how much lucky I am. I feel really honoured for being a very very small part of this book as a millionth reader.

I can never forget this book as it changed my whole life in reality in just 2 days.

You will want to finish it in a day

Its such a simple book and yet so gripping. This book brilliantly captures the truthfulness of suffering and yet manages to constantly make you laugh and smile. Ofcourse at some points you would also want to hate the universe for the games its playing.

Couple of my favourite quotes (Mind you there are sooo many)

    Hazel's father says

‘Sometimes it seems the universe wants to be noticed.’…That’s what I believe. I believe the universe wants to be noticed. I think the universe is improbably bia...

I bought this book when I was undergoing pshyiotherapy after a mojor accident/operation..Believe me this is one of the most touching stories I have ever read..as the story is about cancer survivors..in the initial chapters every tragedy is described in a most practical manner..but as we head towards the end chapters..the tragedy is described as it is in life..and I cried after a long time...Good book with great emotions..
