Sam Manekshaw was the first Indian military leader who was promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. He was a part of five major wars that India fought (three against Pakistan and the wars against China) and was in service for more than four decades. He was the Army Chief during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. For his unparalleled feat as a proud army man, Manekshaw was honoured by the Government of India with Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Military Cross awards. Manekshaw died in Tamil Nadu, due to pneumonia. A statue of Sam manekshaw has been erected in the Pune Cantonment.
About Major General Shubhi Sood
Major General Shubhi Sood completed his military education in some of the most reputed institutions like the Staff College, Higher Command and National Defence College. He was later an instructor at the National Defence College. He retired in the year 1998 and has been prolifically writing on Military issues. He frequently gives talks on Military Leadership.
