The book uses the general purpose ANSYS software for finite element modeling. The text introduces the readers to the theoretical and practical modeling aspects of the finite element method. The book is divided into 15 chapters. It begins with an Introduction and A Brief History of ANSYS and the Finite Element Method. It also covers Matrix Algebra, Design Optimization, Trusses, Axial Members, Beams, Frames, One-Dimensional and Two-Dimensional Elements, Analysis of Fluid Mechanical Problems, and Two-Dimensional Heat Transfer Problems.

The first few chapters of the book review the basic ideas in finite element analysis. The chapters that follow deal with Gauss-Legendre Quadrature, Galerkin formulation of One-dimensional Heat Transfer and Fluid Problems, the Organization of ANSYS Program, and Design and Material Selection.
