    Informative, exhaustive and erudite--pranaam Harris sir!

    I've wanted to read this book for the longest time ever since I saw a review of it in my newspaper. It did not disappoint. Harris presents a fascinating insight into the lives of some remarkable 'foreigners' who I dare say became more Indian than the rest of us. A timely work for today's times, when all identities are seemingly being essentialised (Hindu v Muslim, North v South Indian, Aryan v Dravidian, Sanskrit v Hindi-Urdu).
