Remarkable novel......As expected from Mr. Bond
Story is set during the 1857 Sepoy mutiny. I'm sure many of us have read about the revolt and views on it from different people. But this book narrates the events and their effects on non-Indians, as viewed from the eyes of a small girl.
And Ruskin Bond's skill in conveying emotions through writing is top notch. The novel is comparatively short and never loses it's grip on readers. Once you start the novel, the story has enough content and drama and suspense to keep you hooked to the book.
