This plate is great, works perfect for my Smooth Q and Hero7 Black! For best use, use in selfie mode on the smooth Q. Click your "mode" button 3 times. Then from there you can click "mode" once or twice to change what your joy stick does. Haven't tried to pair the gimbal with my Hero... But I don't think you need to, without it though you can't zoom. Although can you zoom with the hero 7 in video? Pretty sure not. But that's a whole nother topic.
