A brilliantly flawed piece of work

Steven Levitt, the main author, despite his extraordinary scholarly achievements in Economics, is less interested in the science itself and more so in how it affects the behavior of common people. His often hilarious and sometimes far-fetched understanding of how things work never ceases to be entertaining. Stephen Dubner gives him a good helping hand to broaden the perspective of the text.

This book is perhaps more accurately described to be at the borderline between fiction and non-fiction...

One of the most rare kind of books

The name "Freakonomics" is the most justifiable name for this book. This book has looked into various topics, which are very rarely discussed about. Steven Levitt, a renowned Havard scholar, had already a very good reputation for analysing things in a very un-orthodox mannner. And this books has got a lot of freaky topics.
This books covers topics like cheating among the sumo wrestlers, information control as applied to the Ku Klux Klan and real-estate agents, the economics of drug dealin...

A brief overview of Freakonomics

This epic book by Steven Levitt deals with the power of Data Mining with respect to relevance in the real world and with respect to Economic Theory. It is especially of special relevance to us Computer Science undergraduates because of the methods that helped him recognize the trends of cheating via the data from the schools of Chicago .

This book has unearthed similar trends in different aspects of American Society and the International society ranging from the Ku Klux Klan to the Sumo wrest...

Surprisingly interesting.

I had heard alot about the book(some really positive stuff) but not being an economics student I had my doubts whether I'd be able to understand squat. But surprisingly, the book is extremely lucid as well as thought provoking. Must read if you're looking for something gripping.
Dubner has implemented it well, as for Levitt, well the guy is kind of a genius.
P.S. I read this in less than a day.

A good read

I heard about this book 8 years back when I was a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering. This book was a part of a course on globalization in my university. I must have borrowed it from the library at that time. Now, I am glad to have owned a copy. This is quite an interesting read on things that impact our everyday lives as told from an economist point of view in a rouge and humorous style.

A very sane experience with a really rogue book!

I don't even want to talk about the delivery, too good! Really satisfied with flipkart.

Now, The Book!
Well, long story short, this is basically a book with a lot of weird case studies, their explanation from an "economic" point of view. The authors are witty, the book is well composed, the narration is fluid. I have to admit, this is one of the best non fiction I've read in my life. Book is highly recommended for those who are into business related non-fictions.

Freakonomics

If you’re at all interested in economics, data science, or even just popular books, it’s a good bet that you’ve heard of Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner’s 2005 New York Times bestseller, Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything External link.
In the eight years since its publication, the book has spawned a sequel External link and even a documentary External link. Eight years might seem to be a long shelf life for a book about statistics, particularly one ...

A brave attempt to demystify economics

Through forceful storytelling and wry insight, Levitt and Dubner show that economics is the study of incentives as to how how people get what they want, or need,
especially when other people want or need the same thing. In Freakonomics, they explore the hidden side of each and everything that could be discussed elaborately.
If morality represents how we would like the world to work, then economics represents how it actually does work. It will literally redefine the way a man views the
