The FinePix SL260 belongs to Fujifilm’s specialised S series of digital bridge cameras. A bridge camera is the ideal choice for budding photographers or hobbyists looking to advance from a compact point and shoot camera to something with more performance and functionality while still sticking to a reasonable budget.

The SL260 features the highly specialized Fujinon lens that has a focal length of 4.3 mm - 111.8 mm which is the 35 mm Equivalent of 24 - 624 mm. The camera sports an incredible 26x optical zoom and a 6.7x digital zoom which can take you closer for a detailed look of your subject. The CCD image sensor gives this FinePix digital camera a phenomenal optical sensor resolution of 14 megapixel.

As with most bridge cameras, this FinePix SL260 also bares very close resemblance to a DSLR in the category of shape and size. This FinePix camera manages to weigh 510 g with the inclusion of its battery and memory card. The advent of the powerful CCD image sensor with the 14 megapixel resolution gives the SL260 the ability to record HD videos with 720p resolution. The high quality images and videos can be view on the camera’s 3 inch TFT Colour LCD Monitor with a display resolution of 460,000 dot pixels. This camera features an electronic viewfinder with a 200,000 dot resolution with the 3 inch LCD acting as an optional live viewfinder.

Battery and Storage

This SL260 is powered by a NP-85 rechargeable lithium-ion battery that lasts up to 300 shots on a full charge. All the captures images and recorded videos are stored in SD, SDHC or SDXC memory cards that can be accessed through the camera’s memory card slot. These stored media files can easily be transferred from your camera directly into your laptop or computer using the high-speed USB 2.0 port. The presence of a composite AV out and an HDMI mini connector allows you to view your photos and HD videos on a large screen standard definition or a high definition television.

Performance

The FinePix SL260 features an aperture range of f/3.1 - f/5.9, which gives you control over the amount of light falling on the camera’s image sensor. The Autofocus function on this camera functions using the TTL contrast detection technology and has a normal focusing range of 40 cm (Wide) onwards and 2.8 m (Tele) to infinity. It further gives this FinePix a macro range of 7 cm and a super macro range of 2 cm giving you the ability to capture stunning extreme close-up shots.

The Fujifilm SL260 also features an incredible light sensitivity range of ISO 64 – ISO 6400, which when clubbed with a shutter speed range of 1/2000 – 8 sec lets you take stunning shots of moving subject or magical night shots. You can also light up your photographs with the built-in, pop-up flash unit that has a range of 40 cm - 8.0 m (Wide) and 2.1 m - 4.1 m (Tele). There is also a further provision for an external flash attachment for increased lighting for your photographs.

Features

The FinePix SL650 digital camera boasts a wide range of pre-programed shooting modes and white balancing settings let you capture images in a variety of image temperature that best suit the current conditions. The CCD shift image stabilization automatically compensates for any unintentional shake or vibration of the camera while shooting to deliver blur-free and sharp images. The CCD image sensor along with the 14 megapixel resolution of this FinePix gives it the capability to record high definition video with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution with monaural sound at 30 fps.

The face detection feature automatically identifies faces in a frame and optimizes exposure and focus settings which along with the Red Eye Reduction function let you take crisp and striking images of your favourite people. With the self-timer function, you can delay shutter release by 2 or 10 seconds, giving you enough time to compose the frame and be part of your most memorable photographs. The Continuous Shooting mode lets you take up to 8 shots per second, making sure that you don’t miss any of the action that unfolds before you. The PictBridge feature further enhances the camera’s user-friendly nature by allowing you to connect the camera directly to a printer without a PC, enabling easy direct photo printing.
