Fun in Devlok: Kama vs Yama is a children’s novel written by Devdutt Pattanaik. It is an unconventional collection of stories that will bring the devas to the innocent world of children.

Summary of the Book

Jayshree is an ardent student who always finishes her homework in time. One day, while studying, she hears hushed voices out in the garden. She goes out to see what it is and meets a strange man called Kama. Shiva had once cursed him to turn invisible. Kama makes a good impression on the little Jayshree by making pretty butterflies fly and bees buzz in her garden. He even fills it with colourful, fragrant flowers. And then, Yama appears! He believes only in working and does not like playing at all. Now Kama and Yama both want to be best friends with Jayshree. But who will Jayshree choose to be friends with in the end?

Author Info
  • Dr Devdutt Pattanaik studied medicine but decided he loves telling stories better. He feels stories are like Eclair sweets; if you chew long enough, you get a burst of chocolate that is locked inside. So rather than working as a doctor, he decided to write and tell ancient Indian stories and reveal the idea-chocolate locked within them. He believes these stories are the gifts of our ancestors. He has been doing this for a long time and even uses the wisdom of these stories to help businesses. He is currently Chief Belief Officer of Future Group. To know more visit
