| Author Info | - Dr. Narayan Pandurang Waghmare is currently working as Director at State Forensic Science Laboratory, Verna, Goa since 2016. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Science from a prestigious Jadavpur University, Kolkata and has been associated with this field for more than 27 years. He was again directly selected for the post of Assistant Director (Ballistics) at Forensic Science Laboratory, Home Department, GNCT of Delhi, Rohini, Delhi and associated with this laboratory about 8 years till 2016.
Dr. Waghmare is a nationally recognized, Forensic Ballistics /Firearm Expert or examiner of the Indian Central Government since 27 years. He has examined & reported more than 5000 crime cases relating to firearms-ammunition combination and their parts of. Dr Waghmare also recipient of the prestigious “UNION HOME MINISTER’S AWARD IN FORENSIC SCIENCE” from the Directorate of Forensic Science Services, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India during the year 2004 for outstanding contribution in Forensic Physical Sciences especially in Forensic Ballistics. Dr. Waghmare had received “BEST YOUNG SCIENTISTS AWARD” in recognition of excellence in research for paper presented entitled “Improving professionalism in Forensic Science” at Forum on Forensic Science, 87th Session of Indian Science Congress, Pune 2000.
Dr Waghmare was also awarded “BEST SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PAPER AWARD” for in recognition of Excellence in Research paper (Physical Sciences) presented at Forum on Forensic Science, 18th Session of Indian Science Congress, Raipur 2005. He also awarded “BEST SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PAPER AWARD” for the recognition of Excellence in Research paper (Physical Sciences) presented at Forum on Forensic Science, 19h Session of Indian Science Congress, Kolkata, 2007. He also had been presented more than 35 research papers at national level conferences in Forensic Ballistics field.
Dr Waghmare is also Advisor for doing Ph.D. students at different universities. Two students have been awarded Ph.D. under his guidance and another two students are doing Ph.D. under him at different Indian Universities. He is a regular visiting faculty members at SHIAT University, Allahabad, Shri Vaishnav univervity, Indore, Amity university, Noida, He is a member of Board of studies in the filed of Forensic Science at Sri Vaishnav University ,Indore and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. He has Chaired a technical Session in National conference held at SHIT, Allahabad. And All India conference held at Bangalore during 2019.
During entire service in Forensic field Dr. Waghmare also received many appreciation and commendation certificates from law enforcement agencies, police Officers, Chief Forensic Scientist, Directors ,CFSLs and judicial officers for excellent work done in the field of Forensic Ballistics.
