PS Vita: Experience Exceptional Gaming Anywhere
After the PlayStation Portable (PSP) turned out to be rather disappointing to several gamers, Sony introduced an upgraded version called the PlayStation Vita. Although released in the year 2011, the PS Vita gaming console remains a popular portable gaming console even to this day. It is strong competition for the new Nintendo Switch.
Here are all the features that make it an exceptional gaming console.
PS Vita Highlights
PSP vs PS Vita
When PSP was launched, it seemed like you could carry your PS 2 around in your pocket. But when it comes to PS Vita, it is evident that it can do so do so much more, and Sony’s slogan “It only does everything” aptly suits the console several times. PS Vita is also slightly bigger compared to PSP with its larger display and also carries a second analog stick for increased accuracy in gaming.
Hardware And Design
The design of the PS Vita looks like it’s a developed version of the PSP. The PS Vita carries a large display with a 5-inch screen which is also touch sensitive. The layout of the PS Vita controls is similar to that of DualShock 3 (3DS) without the grip sticks, which is the controller of a PS 3. The device is also quite light, weighing just 280 grams, and is also great for extended gaming sessions.
Although the layout of the controls on this device resembles that of a 3DS, the controls on the console are much easier to use compared to that of a 3DS. The additional analog stick on the PS Vita also gives you the feel of using the proper 3DS controller.
The entire screen on the device is sensitive to touch, which is highly responsive and fast and is also sensitive to multi-touch. Along with this, there is also a rear touch panel, which is slightly difficult to use in the beginning as you’re still getting used to moving your finger around without an idea of where it is. But once you’ve mastered the trick to using it, the amount of potential it carries becomes evident.
Gaming And Experience
Sony promised a full-scale console gaming on a handheld device and has delivered it too. The gaming library has not only games that are suitable for mobile gaming, but also popular games like Uncharted, NFS: Most Wanted, Call of Duty, and much more.
With dual cameras attached on the back of the console, Sony gives its first try at Augmented Reality (AR). The 0.3-megapixel resolution of the camera is evidence that the camera was never meant to capture pictures. Some games allow you to map your face into the game and attach it to your CGI generated character. Some other games allow you to play them in a layout that resembles your surroundings.
Other than games, the PS Vita also comes with a variety of non-gaming apps pre-installed onto the device, some of which include the browser and also WelcomePark, which is a tutorial on how AR works.
A List Of PS Vita Gaming Consoles
Sony has released just two models of PS Vita, which is the PS Vita itself and the PS Vita Slim. The models are quite similar to each other, except for the size and weight. While the thickness of the PS Vita is 18 mm, the PS Vita Slim is about 15 mm. The weight of PS Vita Slim is about 219 grams compared to that of 280 grams. It is difficult to say which amongst these is the top PS Vita gaming console as the difference isn’t quite much.
You can buy either of the PS Vita models online on an ecommerce website and wait patiently at your home while your best portable gaming experience is delivered to you in the comforts of your home.
