An eye catching conservatory or patio feature - producing bright orange, zesty fruits throughout the year. It is sometimes called red lime and is often mistaken for a mandarin as its fruits are very similar in size, shape and colour and can be easily peeled and segmented just like a mandarin. It has deep green foliage and during the growing season, the new growth shoots are purple tinted – the small flowers are also purple tinged and are highly scented. The juice of the Rangpur lime has a very distinctive sour lime flavor and is often used as a lime substitute. Place on a window sill, or close to a well lit window, or in a conservatory, or outside in summer. Keep above 60F and not below 40F. Add a standard liquid fertilizer when it is growing. Water from the top of the pot and allow excess water to drain from the bottom. Do not sit the pot in a puddle of water. Try a citrus feed to encourage growth and, if necessary, repot your lime. Prefers a mix of ericaceous compost and neutral, soil based compost. Rangpur lime fruits are considered to be a superior fruit for marmalade.
