The impressive part of the book is not only the fact that it satisfies your thirst of those ghost stories you're looking for but also TAKES YOU BACK in times of the Raj..... A couple of the stories also helped me in getting popular with the kids in the family, they just love the super possibility of encountering a ghost at random places in the stories as truly as they are portrayed...... I know that you must not Always judge a book by its cover,

Not sure whether all the stories mentioned in this book were real or not...But they sure did freak me out! I am an avid ghost tale lover...& it was a good change to read about Indian Ghosts...& that too from a fantastic writer like Bond..Ruskin Bond... :)
The book grips you right from the first tale...from djinns to ghostly babies to Panther people...This book has it all...& it is enough to raise the hair on your backs...

okay, so many people have given reviews that the book is good and many have reviewed it to be bad. From my personal opinion, this is one of the best books with horror stories that go way back in History with some of the stories clearly lifting up the Superstitions that existed among the Indians during the Raj. The stories are the narratives of the fellow britishers who were in charge of the districts and stations during that era and some of the stories are surely going to make you give secon...

Very interesting read..It gives an insight of how the Britishers considered the concept of ghosts and all. A must read for all ghost lovers!!

When i chose to buy the book...i thought the book would be really scary. I was really impressed by its cover- but after reading the book i have learnt never to judge a book by its cover. Style of writing was good but the content was not good enough to scare me, in fact i found it quite boring.

Received in good condition...but the stories in this book are very confusing...and too hard words are used..u may need dictionary to understand the story completely..

Good book

Colonial era english & poor narration. Book contains excerpts from British era regional officers and their experiences. Uninteresting to me, both the story telling & the content. Only the introduction by Ruskin Bond is somewhat interesting. Book disappoints.
