The book is filled with the author’s personal excerpts and medical case histories that prove that sheer grit, perseverance and genius is all that is needed to take on challenges that seem impossible at first. It also takes the reader into the numerous operating rooms where Dr. Ben Carson has performed some of the most dangerous and complex surgeries that have been reported in newspapers globally and have gone on to save hundreds of lives.

His story also talks about one of his most famous cases in 1987, when he was presented with the near impossible task of separating a pair of Siamese twins who were joined at the head.
