  • Description

In Give and Take: A Revolutionary Approach to Success, bestselling author Adam Grant breaks down the formula for achieving success in a corporate setting.

    Summary of the Book

In Give and Take: A Revolutionary Approach to Success the author writes that for generations we have been focusing on individual drivers of success like hard work, passion, luck and talent. In the modern-day corporate world, success has become increasingly dependent on our interaction with others. The author classifies the people at work as either takers, matchers, or givers. While takers are constantly on the cusp of trying to get as much as possible from others, and matchers try to trade evenly, givers are only a few who contribute to others without expecting to get anything in return.

The author further mentions that while some givers get exploited and fade out, the others achieve extraordinary success across a wide range of industries. The book has an appropriate mix of captivating real-life stories and cutting-edge evidence from the author’s years of research.
Give and Take provides valuable insight into what networking, influence, collaboration, and effective leadership skills have in common. This book will greatly help those wishing to achieve success because it has to power to transform not just individuals but entire organizations.

    Well articulated, thought provoking...

In a highly competitive world, where helping others seems like wastage of one's time, the book puts up a compelling case on why one should help others without compromising his own interests. By the usage of real life examples- personalities who excelled in different professions, the book can create a connect with all kinds of readers- politicians, businessmen, artists, sportsmen.
    Must read.

    Good in parts

The books almost entirely talks about Americans which is understandable since the author himself is American, but that is where the problem is. Most of the people he talks about are completely unknown outside America and hence you really don't know them and can't relate to their stories. But there are some sections which are really good and overall the book is a bit underwhelming. But it is successful in proving that to be successful you need not be selfish. One can be successful even by bein...

Fantastic! A different perspective to Networking and Relationships

"Nice guys finish last" as the saying goes. However, In his book "Give and Take", Prof. Adam Grant has wonderfully explained through real life examples that you can be a Giver and a successful person as well. Based on Reciprocity styles, people can be classified into: Givers, Matchers and Takers. Matchers are those people who believe in Quid pro quo / you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. Takers are people who exploit others to further their own plans and causes. Matchers will make sure...

    Very poor

Book binding is very very poor. Pages are tearing off. Just read 20 pages so cannot comment on content.

update: Content is very boring and verbose. You get the point in first 20 pages...same thing goes on again and again.
