    Description
It's Not Luck is the sequel to Eliyahu Goldratt's great business novel, The Goal. After their success in The Goal, Alex has been promoted as the Executive Vice President of UniCo and his team members have also been promoted into key positions in the faltering Diversified Businesses group in their conglomerate. Alex is now given the responsibility to turn the companies around in order to fetch an attractive return and he faces a cruel dilemma. If he succeeds, the companies can be sold for a good price; if he fails, the companies will be closed. The whole company is faltering, and great pressure is put on Alex and the team to turn their businesses around. In addition, at home he is faced with challenges of a father having to deal with two teen-aged children!

Learn more about the powerful techniques first presented in the best-selling business novel, The Goal. In this book, Dr. Goldratt, through examples in a variety of industries, shows how to apply Theory of Constraints(TOC) to sales and marketing, inventory control, and production distribution. In addition, techniques in conflict resolution are introduced on both a business and personal level.

Coming from one of the world's most sought after business leaders - author and educator, Dr. Eli Goldratt. Eli Goldratt had been described by Fortune Magazine as a "guru to industry" and by Business Week as a "genius." The story emphasizes the Thinking Processes from The Goal, and the importance of using them in business and in personal life.

    Find your Goal

You must read Goal Part 1 before reading this book. The concept of current reality tree and future reality tree is explained beautifully by the author. How Alex (the main character of this book) uses the reality tree's to make his companies profitable is really amazing. Not only does he uses the reality tree to resolve problems in his factories but also uses the concept in his personal life to resolve conflicts.

    A nice sequel

Makes interesting reading at the start. But latter you realize (if you have gone through the first book) its not much different. The principles elucidated in the first book are further built upon in the second. However, good for someone wanting to read more of Goldratt.

    Teaches decision making

Though this is sequel to "the goal" ,it doesn't take the story further and u might feel at times that it circumlocute similar problems.
But the decision making technique is pragmatic and has been beautifully elucidated.
A good read for ppl interested in management and a must read for ppl interested or involved in manufacturing.
