Do You Know?
That you may be carrying a computer on your wrist?
If you are wearing a digital watch, then you are carrying a tiny computer on your wrist.
A digital watch contains a device which emits an exact number of electric signals every second. A tiny computer in your watch counts the signals. Every time the signals reach this exact number, the computer changes the time displayed. The computer is very accurate, consequently your watch keeps almost perfect time. The computer can also work out the date and display it.
These days digital watches have many other interesting features. Some are like diaries, where you can record the names, addresses and phone numbers of your friends. You can program some watches to beep and remind you of appointments. Others are made specially for divers, and can record water pressure and depth. Some can even measure your blood pressure and pulse rate.
