This 300-piece puzzle assembles into a 20-by-27-inch highly detailed hand-drawn image of the Indian nations of the continental United States (including Alaska), northern Mexico, and a bit of southern Canada. It's a staggering but fascinating accomplishment, encouraging one to stare for hours and learn not only how many nations there were, but also to get some hints about how different Indians lived, housed and fed themselves, maintained rituals, and so on. Men, women, and children are equally depicted, and images of artifacts and icons run along the side of the picture. The back of the box proffers some historical information and challenges you to find individual items, such as a travois (a sled-like device) and a bullboat (a cup-shaped boat made from buffalo hide).
