WORTH EVERY RUPEE

The short stories and real life incidents are so simple and yet endearing, that it leaves the reader in a state of ethereal pleasure...soaking up every moment of reading and every word so simple and yet so touching.
I liked all the stories, and they offer a vast spectrum - from LOC to slum dwellers to Saahir Ludhianvi's 100 rupee note to Javed Akhtar's love for Saahirji.
Any person who loves light reading, believes in the simple values of life like love, friendship, patriotism, etc should rea...

Things only Gulzar saab could have written

Did not come across a better collection of short stories in recent times. The stories, wisely picked tell tales of real human being, in human language. They are so loose (with everyday situations of mango people used as plots), at times one could even feel that they are part of the same novel. At the same time they offer such variety that only a ideal short story could offer.
A captivating read. A must have for Gulzar fans.

The stories are so simple and beautiful that they are easy to read.
The stories just touch you and you feel like you have seen some somewhere.
The narration is so nice that you go through range of emotions as the book moves forward.

Gulzar's ability to see the story in the most unlikely places

I felt that some of the stories were too short. Since they were too short they did not create the intended impact. In some, author appeares to have left a lot unsaid and to readers imagination; deliberately.
This book consists of 25 stories. The stories are divided into eight sections and each section has a theme. Of all these stories I liked 'Ghugu and Jamuni', 'Pickpocket', 'Sahir & Jadu' the most.

The stories cover wide range of emotions, wide range of strata of the people and various cit...

Poignant and quintessential Gulzar!

An ensemble of memorable characters woven through an eclectic mix of poignant short stories. The stories (some of which are probably based on the maestro's real life experiences) feel very real. The human drama and tragedy is touching. This is quintessential Gulzar... at his non-lyrical best! Worth a full Hundred Rupees and much more...
