A Non- Conventional Text Book Approach

Norman Lowe has endured the test of time in plethora of textbook on Modern World History. The writing style is unique. It keeps reader interested and engaged by giving facts in a nutshell way and analyses causes and consequences of every aspect of Modern World history beautifully. There is a forewarning: It's a textbook and does not have detailed analysis of every aspect of timeline in Modern world History. The argumentative approach is also missing understandably owing to paucity of space. ...

Good read. Low utility.

The book is a good read and quite detailed if one has a genuine interest in world history. Most 1914 onwards.

However it seems to figure on the list for UPSC exam World History section which it is not. It is highly detailed and begins from the middle of the syllabus. Therefore UPSC oriented purchasers kindly stay away.

For a general reader it is quite good. The diagrams are a little unclear since they are in grey scale. However the details and the material by itself is good.

Excellent book....A must read...!

It's a very informative book...In addition to presenting the textual matter with remarkable simplicity, the author has successfully merged historical facts with geographical maps which greatly enhance the reading experience.....!
For a general reader like myself, it's a pure delight..!
only FAULT is that the ink and the font do not give a very tidy print, which might be rather repulsive.. >>

Best book for begginers

The writing style of this book is excelent. Very helpful for objective questions. The writer, although from London, has succesfully remained unbiased. Those who don't have any knowledge about twentieth century, there is no other book for you to start with.

One disadvantage is that it does not have anything about Afganistan and Taliban issue.
