Hard Luck (Diary of a Wimpy Kid book 8) (English, Hardcover, Kinney Jeff)
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck is the eighth book of the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid series, a bestselling satirical fiction series authored by Jeff Kinney, and was published in 2013.
Summary Of The Book
The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid series is authored in the form of journals maintained by the protagonist, Greg Heffley. The journal entries are interspersed with illustrative depictions of his daily adventures, and simple hand-written notes.
In Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck, Greg is dumped by Rowley Jefferson, his best friend, for Abigail, Rowley’s new girlfriend. As he starts middle school, he finds it very hard to make new friends. His mother reassuringly tells him that friends might come and go, but family is forever. However, Greg is not entirely convinced. He misses the regular shenanigans Rowley and him would indulge in, and is on the lookout for a solid friend who would stand by him and carry his books. When Greg’s maternal relatives are visiting, he discovers a Magic 8-Ball in his older brother, Rodrick's room. He decides to take a leap of faith and entrust his decisions to fate, all the while hoping that his luck would change for the better.
Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck is filled to the brim with a humorous narration of Greg’s adventures, from poster board science fair projects to gym class woes. The author portrays Greg’s friendship dilemma in a simple and relatable manner, in an attempt to reach out to children who are going through the same ordeals. Meant for children between the ages of 9 to 12, this novel from the bestselling series, is engaging and fun to read.
