    Description

Haroun and the Sea of Stories is a children’s book written by Salman Rushdie.

    Summary of the Book

Haroun and the Sea of Stories is a tale that begins in a city so ancient, and ruinous that it has sadly forgotten its name. Haroun Khalifa is the son of a famous storyteller called Rashid. His mother Soraya leaves home for Mr. Sengupta, their neighbour. Thus begins the moving and magical story of Haroun, along with several other stories of sorcery and love, wicked uncles and aunts, and gangsters. Treat yourself to the funny, witty, and sad stories written by a master storyteller, which are brilliant metaphors for social problems that exist today, especially in India. The book will help your children develop deeper insights and sensibilities towards the problems that continue to plague our society.

    Rushdie's gift of gab

This story is about a little boy Haroun whose father Rashid is a story teller. Rashid's gift of gab is a bright spot in an otherwise dull world. But disaster strikes when Rashid loses this gift. Haroun is horrified and is determined to rescue his father and restore his gift. And then begins a magical adventure. Like the story teller Rashid in the book, Salman Rushdie weaves an intricate tale of fantasy and imagination.

It is very different from most of the other fiction I have read. When I ...

    An elaborate fantasy tale

I finished this book within one day. Salman Rushdie has is very good in creating fairy tales. Sometimes the fantasies are too much. Would not recommend to those who are not used to fantasy reading, because while reading this you might get confused. Lastly, a great deal from Flipkart!

    A great read!

I had read the book earlier some time ago! But I really wanted to have one copy of this book which would don the shelf of my library! A real good read for both the young and the old! Storytelling couldn't have been any better the way Salman narrates it to the readers and compels them to complete the book at one go!

Haroun And The Sea Of Stories (English)

well received - book is good, no credit to flipkart - the worst part is your insistence on a minimum of 100 characters - just not on - why? - if a shorter message can convey the message, why not? - this forces people like us to not write reviews.
