  • Description
Set in the context of the zeitgeist and idealism of the late sixties, Harp is about love, longing and coming of age. The three main protagonists - a young man searching for his true love, travelling in a Europe-less-travelled including the Iron Curtain, a young woman who has a calling to music, and another young woman who has loved and lost once - provide the frame of this narrative about journeys we make across countries, even as we embark on a private quest within to know ourselves better, and to seek what it is we really want from life. Moving through India, Europe and USA, Harp follows the lives of these three young people even as they engage with the cultural, sexual, student revolutions, and the music of the sixties.

    HOOKED!

This book will have you hooked from the word go and it will be really hard for you to put it down. This is definitely not one of your regular run of the mills love story. It is about this young Indian guy who travels to Europe and falls in love with a Polish musician. How their love is challenged and how he finds another woman back home in India. Interestingly woven in between the Ashok Lauren saga is the existing socio-economic situation of that time in both India and abroad. Kudos to the wr...

Harp is a perfect example of how a romantic novel should be

Harp is a perfect example of how a romantic novel should be written. It is a coming of age story about a man who falls in love with a Polish musician and the conflict it creates with familial responsibility. The communist Poland of the late sixties and seventies provides for a really strong backdrop. The lifestyles of these three main characters is wonderfully depicted as the book follows them around as they engage with the cultural, sexual, student revolutions and the music of the sixties. T...
