Brilliant writing, old story

According to Wicktionary –

Hedon – (economics) A unit of pleasure used to theoretically weigh people's happiness.

This is a coming of age novel about the slightly fat, incredibly intelligent, extremely cynical, brooding Tara, whose life changes the day she meets her prince charming on the banks of a river. Every pursuit from there onward is fuelled by his memory and the desire to, possibly, one day tell him what she feels.

The cover of the book is spectacular – pitch black with a fluoresce...

Fresh style with crispy word flow

The book doesn’t require a review. It is already there between the pages. As Priyanka puts it “her cheeky inclusion of a self-penned book review is interwoven into the narrative”. Adding on to that, the book is a story (if I dare call it that), of a young Tara who crawls, flies, dunks, rolls and stands tall in her life. She falls in love (infatuation?!) with Jay who is 7-8 years her senior and is much like her, understands her and shares her crazy tendencies. From there on, life moves them ap...

Simple, Mixed with Romance and Chemistry

Let me start by saying Hedon is a book with freshness and a different perspective with added romantic fiction. It gives perspective about age and culture and how 2 people come together based on mails, small talks and meets.

Based in Kolkata and US about 2 socially privileged people Tara Mullick and Jay Dhillon, Hedon gives an account how they become friends and then lovers despite the age difference and the cultural boundaries. Hedon also shows different facets of friendship between Tara, Co...

Love stories find more attraction to the young book lovers , since they can relate these stories with their life or that of their friends.Interestingly this book’s plot doesn’t make the story fade away when the pages were turned. The story becomes interesting and makes the reader to turn the next page and compels them to finish it in a stretch.‘The story is about two people and their love’.The book is written in simple form where readers doesn’t get over complex things and the narration is ra...

Not worthy at all!

I am a certified flipkart buyer and I feel Penguin shouldn't have published this book. It's not worth a read. Just a waste of my money. I woud not prefer this to anyone else. It's absolutely not commendable.

An adventure worth trying

This is one of the books that I wanted to highlight and book mark passages ! The poetry is one of highlights of this book and it shows the brilliance of author's writing. It is few of those books that very accurately portray the years of growing up , of loss of love , heart and friends. It is how one makes sense of life via adventures , words and a little solitude

Simple language but yet an effective prose

We look at Tara's life through school, college and once she enters back into society as a woman on the path to setting her own life and home soon. When the book starts off, there is a disconnect one feels with the flow of the story, but soon as the story picks up. The age difference between the two main charachters in a way pulls you to see how things will pan out for them over the years. It is heart warming to read about the small meetings, exchanges and talks between them which paves the pa...
