Why is there a shipping charge for this item?

Sellers with Flipkart Assured waive off the delivery charge for Orders over Rs 500. For Orders under Rs 500, a nominal delivery charge is added per item.

Sellers without Flipkart Assured may or may not add a delivery charge to your Order. This is subject to Seller discretion.

What is the estimated delivery time?

Sellers generally procure and ship the items within the time specified on the product page. Business days exclude public holidays and Sundays.

Estimated delivery time depends on the following factors:

      • The Seller offering the product
      • Product's availability with the Seller
      • The destination to which you want the order shipped to and the Seller's location

Why does the delivery date not correspond to the delivery timeline of X-Y business days?

It is possible that the Seller or our courier partners observe a holiday between the day you placed your order and the date of delivery, which is based on the timelines shown on the product page. In this case, we add a day to the estimated date. Some courier partners and Sellers do not work on Sundays and this is factored in to the delivery dates.

What do the different tags like 'In Stock', 'Available' mean?

      'In Stock'

Products‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

      'Available'

Products listed as ‘In Stock’ are readily available with seller.

      'Preorder' or 'Forthcoming'

The product is not released yet. You can however ‘book’ an order for this. Shipping happens only after the product launch.

      'Out of Stock'

Currently, the item is not available for sale. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know once it is available for purchase.

      'Imported'

Sometimes, items have to be sourced by Sellers from outside India. These items are mentioned as 'Imported' on the product page and can take at least 10 days or more to be delivered to you.

      'Back In Stock Soon'

The item is popular and is sold out. You can however 'book' an order for the product and it will be shipped according to the timelines mentioned by the Seller.

      'Temporarily Unavailable'

The product is currently out of stock and is not available for purchase. The product could to be in stock soon. Use the 'Notify Me' feature to know when it is available for purchase.

      'Permanently Discontinued'

This product is no longer available because it is obsolete and/or its production has been discontinued.

      'Out of Print'

This product is not available because it is no longer published and has been permanently discontinued.

Why does the estimated delivery time vary for each seller?

Delivery times are influenced by product availability, geographic location of the Seller, your shipping destination and the courier partner's time-to-deliver to your location.

Please enter your default pin code on the product page to know more accurate delivery times on the product page itself.

Seller does not/cannot ship to my area. Why?

Enter your pincode on the product page to know whether the product can be delivered to your location.

If you haven't provided your pincode until the checkout stage, the pincode in your last used shipping address will be used to check for serviceability.

Whether your location can be serviced or not depends on:

      • Whether the Seller actually ships to your location
      • Legal restrictions, if any, in shipping particular products to your location
      • The availability of reliable courier partners in your location

At times Sellers prefer not to ship to certain locations. This is entirely at their discretion.

    Description

Hello Bastar: The Untold Story Of India’s Maoist Movement presents Rahul Pandita’s in-depth analysis of the Indian Maoist Movement.

    Summary Of The Book

In Hello Bastar: The Untold Story Of India’s Maoist Movement, Rahul Pandita presents his decade-long study of the Indian Maoist movement in all its harsh, unvarnished reality.

The narrative begins with the ideological union of a handful of people, both men and women, that led to the establishment of a guerrilla base in Bastar, Central India, in 1980. These people with the idea of revolution in their minds, created a powerful movement that sought to fight the Indian establishment on behalf of the country’s poverty-stricken and marginalized citizens. The movement, which subsequently morphed into what is termed the Maoist movement, is now firmly entrenched in ten Indian states, and is perceived as the biggest threat to India’s internal security.

The book provides powerful and in-depth insight into the Maoist movement, including a tremendous amount of information on the goals of the movement, its recruitment process, its party structure, the lives of its members, and the functioning of its squads. It is backed by the author’s research which stems from his conflict-reporting experiences and interviews with numerous Maoist leaders. From the story of the first member who died for the cause, to the work of its top leaders like Kobad Ghandy, Anuradha Ghandy, and Ganapathi, the book highlights the lives of the Maoists and their dedication to the cause.

Hello Bastar: The Untold Story Of India’s Maoist Movement was first published in 2011 by Westland / Tranquebar Press. It has garnered critical acclaim for its unflinching analysis of India’s Maoist movement in the backdrop of firsthand reportage straight from the guerrilla camp.

The other side of the coin

Coming from Andhra Pradesh, I have heard of naxalism all my life. I've heard of them killing policemen, forcefully acquiring land and blowing up jungle resorts. I've also witnessed the enigmatic following the balladeer Gadar had over thousands of people in the state. Being a city - bred, urban, English educated citizen of India, I've always had a well-conditioned, deep-rooted bias against the violence encouraged by the Maoist movement. At the same time, like everybody else, I wondered how a s...

    Glorifying Naxalism

This is fairly good book giving the reader an insight in problems of the underprivileged in the RED corridor belt. But the author tends to somewhat glorify the Naxals by suggesting that whatever actions they have undertaken to uplift the poor people are to a large extent correct. The government on its part is also false by not doing its bid but the writer should have also highlighted the wrongs which the Naxals have done under the name of protectors of the poor. I mean to say that all Robin H...

Really the untold story of Indian Maoist movement

I have never read such a vivid history about the formation of the Naxals, their growth, progress, birth of CPI(Maoist) in India. The book also recognizes those never-told faces who sacrificed their lives or still struggling for the betterment of the society. The book also discusses about the structure and other important aspects of the CPI(Maoist)party which were still unpublished to the common people. A great book from Rahul Pandita. A must read!

Well written but baised in favor of Maoists

The author has put in considerable amount of time & effort in the book put I feel in the process of doing so he fails to maintain a unbiased stand. The book talks in detail about the struggles of Maoists but conveniently mentions their exploits mechanically and moves on.

The Maoists invasion, recruitment and plans for future (in the chapter - the urban agenda) shows that after a while in a war, both sides forget what/why they are fighting for.

It deeply affects me to know that a teenager wh...

    One sided and confused

Hello Bastar is one of many books glorifying Maoist warfare. The author has put up considerable amount of time in studying the movement and praising them but had he spent some time in organising the text,it would have been better. He starts off with Kobad Ghandy, moves to Andhra Pradesh and other places, comes to Anu Ghandy's life and ends with Kobad Ghandy. It is confusing that was the book written for Kobad or Maoist warfare. The author glorifies Maoism but what about the people killed in this wa...

    Such a dampener !

Having read Pandita's brilliant work "our moon has blood clots", the expectations were pretty high from this one. was hoping to get a closer view of the matter apart from the narrative we get in routine op-eds. but the book fails to deliver. it is a mundane fact of matter narration with too much focus on individuals rather than focusing on the genesis of ideology. Overall Disappointing and avoidable. Expected much better from Mr Pandita

    Quick read and informative

Its a thin book and perfect for those who are scared by fat chunky books.

It has lots of personal stories and background of people who are now part of the Maoist movement. I learnt a lot. What we read in newspapers is always missing in context or the process of how things came to be as they are.

The author understands and reveals the underlying reasons for the huge support that Maoists have.

He also gave an insight into what the ideology is and how the Naxals lives are.

    A good and qui...

Now about the book. First of all i want to thank mr. rahul pandita who gave me a better insight of my homeland, than what i got from the last 22 years. Bloodshed's...

At least not Arundhati roy--but surely Pro-naxal and one sided

Those who have known plights of naxalism can better tell how half-baked naxal leaning Mr.Pundita has presented. Naxal movement can not be justified in the name of democratic rights. These maoists are organised terrorists. Mr.Pundita was allowed to visit them so how could have he ventured writing against these lunatics. There nazi working style and torture is known to one and all in the districts they dominate.
