2.) Heroes Of Olympus: The Lost Hero

Heroes Of Olympus: The Lost Hero is the first book in the Heroes Of Olympus series of books written by Rick Riordan. The protagonist in this novel is Jason, a demigod who embarks on a mission to rescue Hera, the Queen of gods, from the clutches of an unknown villain. He fights his way through all obstacles, along with his other friends from a camp, who are all revealed to be demigods themselves.

The story starts when Jason wakes up on a school bus, seated next to Piper McLean and Leo Valdez. He does not recognize either of them as he is unable to remember anything from his past, including his identity. He realizes later that Leo is his best friend, and Piper, his girlfriend. All three of them are on a field trip to the Grand Canyon.

Jason, Leo, and Piper soon find themselves in Camp Half-Blood, where they realize that they are demigods and meet other similar characters.

Meanwhile, Hera, the Queen of gods, is captured and her divine life force is used to raise Porphyrion, the King of Giants. The villainous plan is to use Porphyrion to overthrow Zeus and capture Olympus.

The new trio in Camp Half-Blood is called upon to rescue Hera from the clutches of the unnamed antagonist. Their crusade to rescue Hera makes the story dramatic, adventurous, and gripping. The partial return of Jason’s memory adds a new twist in the tale.

The book is based on Roman and Greek mythology. It incorporates Riordan’s new style of writing - a third person narrative, with the perspective switching between the protagonists Jason, Piper, and Leo from time to time.

The book was first released in the United States in October 2010. It was very popular and topped five bestseller lists, including The New York Times bestseller list. It featured on the USA Today bestseller list as well. Heroes Of Olympus: The Lost Hero was also named the Barnes & Noble Best Book of 2010.

About the Authors
Rick Riordan is an American author, famous for his fantasy fiction. His popularity rose after the release of his Percy Jackson & The Olympians series.

Some of his other works include Kane Chronicles: The Serpent’s Shadow, The Demigod Files,  Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid, The Throne Of Fire, Percy Jackson And The Sea Of Monsters, Percy Jackson And The Titan’s Curse, and The 39 Clues: The Black Book Of Buried Secrets.

Richard Russell Riordan, better known as Rick Riordan, was born on June 5, 1964. He was brought up in Texas. He attended Alamo Heights High School and graduated in Social Studies and English from the University of Texas, Austin. He taught these two subjects at the Presidio Hill School in San Francisco, before turning into a full-time writer. Riordan has won several awards, including the Anthony Award, the Mark Twain Award, and the Shamus Award. He is married and has two sons, Patrick and Haley. He currently lives in San Francisco with his family.
