Methodswhichwouldhaverequiredunimaginableamountsofcomputing power, andwhichwouldhavetakenyearstoreachaconclusion, cannowbe appliedwitheaseandvirtuallyinstantly. Suchmethodsarebeingdevelopedby avarietyofintellectualcommunities, includingstatistics, arti?cialintelligence, neuralnetworks, machinelearning, datamining, andinteractivedynamicdata visualization. Thisconferenceseriesseekstobringtogetherresearchersstudying theuseofintelligentdataanalysisinthesevariousdisciplines, tostimulate- teractionsothateachdisciplinemaylearnfromtheothers. Soastoencourage suchinteraction, wedeliberatelykepttheconferencetoasingletrackmeeting.
