Anyone Else But You by Ritwik Mallik and Ananya Verma is a novel based in a high school in Delhi and deals with the problem of bullying in schools. The book is Ritwik Mallik’s third novel and co-author Ananya Verma’s first.

Summary Of The Story

Anyone Else But You follows the life of a young Rishav Sen in a Delhi High School, which he enters with high hopes and dreams. When he meets Sahana, he gradually comes across a new, more practical approach to life.

The story then shifts to the core subject of the novel, which is bullying. The death of a student, Siddhant, changes the scenario of the school and uncomfortable questions regarding the activities going on in the school come up. A host of characters such as Jai Chauhan, BK, Muskaan Kaur, and Suraj Singh also come into the picture.

The story is narrated from the perspective of Rishav and Sahana. Various aspects that are common to high schools in Delhi are discussed through the stories of these youngsters who are on the verge of turning into adults. Some of these themes are corporate sponsorship, alcoholism, lust, modern-day love, and politics. The book carries the tagline “Anyone else but you’d believe that life in a Delhi high school is no life, it’s a faking game.”

Many readers have claimed that Anyone Else But You is an accurate description of life in a Delhi high school. It was published in the year 2011.

About The Authors

Ritwik Mallik is an Indian author. Apart from this one, he has two novels to his credit, namely Love Happens Like That and its sequel, Because You Loved Me. All three of Mallik’s books are based on the events happening in a high school in Delhi. He completed his schooling from Delhi Public School in Noida. Mallik is currently an Economics student at the Hans Raj College of Delhi University.

Ananya Verma is an Indian author. This book marks her foray into writing. She is a voracious reader and is also interested in trying her hand at various cuisines. Verma watches quite a bit of television as well.
