Author Info | - Dr. Madhu Vasudevan, a renowned poet, songwriter, music critic, and academic, was born in Alappuzha, Kerala. An alumnus of Cochin University. Dr. Vasudevan is recognized for his versatile works in English, Malayalam, and Hindi. His notable works include ‘Sanskritiyude Vyakaranam’, ‘MDR’, ‘Sangeetarthamu’, ‘Meaningful Pauses’, and ‘Rubaroo’. His book ‘Sangeetarthamu’ was honoured with the Kerala Sahitya Academy Award for its profound exploration of Indian music.
In the Malayalam film industry, Dr. Vasudevan has established himself as a skilled lyricist. His song ‘Ottakku Patunna Poonkuile’ from the film ‘Natan’ brought him the State Award for Best Lyricist. He has received several prestigious awards, including two Filmfare Awards and a Film Critic Award. His contributions to the film ‘Jalam’ were internationally recognized, with four of his songs being shortlisted for the 2016 Oscars in the original soundtrack category. Currently, he is a Professor at Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam.
