Summary of the Book
Sage Singer tries to mask her scars by diving into her craft. As a baker, she takes pride in her work, preparing the day’s breads and pastries throughout the night. She is haunted by her mother’s death and the horrific memories of her past. One day, an elderly man walks into her bakery. Josef Weber begins to stop by the bakery regularly, and soon, they strike up a friendship that transcends their age difference. They begin sharing their life-stories with one another, and soon learn the scars that hide beneath each others’ facade. One day, Josef asks Sage for a strange favour, he reveals that he is constantly plagued by the past and he needs her help to clear his mind. However, saying yes will test the extent of Sage’s morality and it might lead to legal repercussions as well.
