In Higher Algebra, the authors Henry Sinclair Hall and Samuel Ratcliffe Knight explore various advanced algebraic concepts in great detail.
Summary Of The Book
In Higher Algebra, the authors take the students through higher level concepts of algebra in a thorough, easy-to-understand manner. This book is the sequel to the authors’ book, Elementary Algebra.
The book contains a total of 30 chapters. The complexity of the concepts rises progressively i.e. the relatively easier topics are covered in the initial chapters while the more complex ones are explored in the later chapters.
The first few chapters cover concepts like ratio and proportion, variation, types of progression, surds, quadratic equations, permutations and combinations, mathematical induction, binomial theorems, and logarithms. A special section that discusses theorems relevant to progression is also included.
These chapters are followed by topics like logarithmic and exponential series, inequalities, types of fractions, recurring series, and indeterminate equations.
The final chapters of the book cover the concepts of determinants, summation of series, theory of numbers, theory of equations, and probability. A separate chapter is dedicated to miscellaneous theorems.
This particular edition of the book was published in 2012 by Arihant Publications. It is aimed at everyone who wishes to strengthen their grasp on algebra. It is particularly useful for students and aspirants of competitive exams like AIEEE and IIT-JEE.
