    Description
When the chants rise up, Gigi or Gargi Tamang finds that she has to gravitate to the strange object that they seem to emanate from a disc made of a metal that no one can identify. Could the myths that we've heard from time immemorial, actually be true?

Yaduvir and Gargi Tamang, twins are nothing like each other; he, a mild-mannered and scholarly youth, and she, a feisty young woman, full of energy. A telephone call from India suddenly changes their lives. They find that they are the designated guardians and protectors of a strange shield that is both co-vetted and feared by their own clansmen. They are completely unprepared for the adventure they are rocked into, where no one around them seem to be who they are, where they are constantly on the sun and where they have been summoned for a task they cant even accept as true.

    About the Author
Ritu Lalit spent the first few years of her life in the north east of India, where she would lie on the grass and stare at the skies, convinced that she did not belong to this planet. Since she was here, she tried her utmost to fit in, even learn math! But the desire to live in a dream world could not be suppressed, so now she writes fiction. In real life she lives in the NCR (National Capital Region) with her two sons, a daughter-in-law, three dogs and 20 fishes.

    Boldly She Goes...

For a writer whose first book was a coming-of-age tale for young adults, taking on a completely different genre was a very bold move, but Ritu Lalit has always had tremendous gumption! With Hilawi, she enters the world of fantasy, spinning a story that is breathtaking in its pace and arresting in its imagination. This is a book that could have gone horribly wrong, teeming as it is with intricate plot twists and the temptation to go over the top in terms of fantastic imagery, but surprisingly,...

    A page turner

Mysticism, myth and fantasy intertwine in this wonderful tale that
skilfully weaves in the past and the present. Ritu Lalit has created a fantastical world steeped in ancient legend, deceit, subterfuge, in this briskly paced page turner, Hilawi.

Exclusively written for Indian fantasy fiction lovers

The best part about Hilawi is that the fantasy elements are taken from the Indian Mythology.
Narration is pacy. Though I missed the details, the pace of the story didn't disappoint me at all.
Story is quite believable i.e. it might make you believe that there are weapons like Hilawi across the world protected by secret clans.
I hope there will be a sequel.

What if you inherit the "Unimaginable"!?

Sometimes we inherit what may be termed as the "Unimaginable". The Unimaginable Entity that at first appears to be a mere constituent of our "inheritance" might be one that can overturn our entire inheritance, why our very own existence, if misused. Sound tricky!?

It is. More so, if the entity that you're dealing with, is from the realm of the "Unknown". Now, what is the "Unknown" does not have to be the "Supernatural". .. And yet, the fact that it is far-removed from what comprises the reg...

    A very interesting tale.

Ritu lalit's "Hilawi" is based on Hindu Mythology concept Sagar manthan. It is very fresh concept which will take you into adventourous journey. Each chapters are very short and Easy to read. I really loved the latter part of the story which is full of adventure, twist and turns. The End is very different which readers will enjoy the most. the Title and cover of the book attracts the readers to read the whole book. Overall I really enjoyed this short and Adventurous tale. a tale of deadly weapon...

This novel compels you to read it until you finsih it.An awesome breath-taking journey which has unending turns and twists and trust me the last page also is no different.Ritu Lalit has created such an awesome piece of fiction.
The story is about ‘Hilawi’ a mystique weapon which should be better called as shield. It has an old Hindu mythological fable associated with its origin and is assumed to give power, luck and protection to its partner, but also having it is a curse as there are many fam...

    A stellar

First, it is very diffcult for a racounteur to script a fantasia, in just 164 pages. Writers like Rowling, Tolkiens, C.S. Lewis went onto creating Trilogies and heptalogies, but the brevity with which Ms Lalit has narrated this story is commendable in its own exquisite form. In the time of popular campus stories that just bore you to death, "Hilawi" literally stands up to prove its etymological roots, given to the fact that the word was coined by the author herself and it does stir you with i...

    Fast-paced.. Crisp.. ‘Un-put-downable’..

A few days back if I had to argue with anyone in regard to which author wrote the best fast paced thrillers I would undoubtedly have said Sheldon or Grisham.. Today, however, I would say Ritu Lalit.. I have to honestly admit, I’m not someone who reads too many books by Indian authors, but this is the second Ritu Latit book that I picked up (the first being A Bowlful Of Butterflies) and I was completely, pleasantly n totally blown away by it. Fast paced, crisp and ‘un-put-downable’.. The book ...

    A fresh attempt

Ritu Lalit's Hilawi is a take on the Saagar Manthan tale of the Indian mythology, presented with a twist of fantasy. One of the firsts in the market of Indian fantasy, Hilawi is a bold attempt. The plot is a fresh one and filled with action and intrigue. Overall, a likeable book.

On the negative side, the plot moves a bit too fast, with little breathing time for the reader. The book could have done more on the description side, allowing the reader to settle in.

I'd go with three stars out ...

    Absorbing......

HILAWI... From the Fable to the Epilogue,it was absolutely absorbing. Once I started reading it,the only break I took was to attend to my clinic..an absolutely absorbing, suspenseful and well crafted story, where the characters sprang to life.
