This book is recommended for all UPSC Aspirants whose optional is history. Book is very well written , a lot of archaeological data and new research, maps ,photographs and figures make this book sufficient enough for the ancient to early medieval Indian period.

Friends the book is very essentiel for civil services exam...but the word selection by upinder singh is tough to understand students like me ,who's medium is different not english(like Assamese medium). But if we understand english ....than the book is very valuable for us.so i will give 4 1/2star Or 5 star
