Directed by Peter Jackson, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug is an adventure fantasy film that is an adaptation of one of J. R. R. Tolkien’s finest literary works, The Hobbit. This compelling flick is the second installment in a 3-part film series. The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug follows a hobbit called Bilbo Baggins as he continues his magical and perilous journey to the Lonely Mountain with the Wizard Gandalf and 13 dwarves so that the latter can take back what is rightfully theirs, the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, from a monstrous creature. This flick stars Golden Globe Award-winner Ian McKellen of X-Men fame, Martin Freeman (starred in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), Benedict Cumberbatch of Sherlock fame, Orlando Bloom (played the role of Will Turner in the first 3 Pirates of the Caribbean films) and Richard Armitage.
