HTC Salsa

The HTC Salsa is a social-networking focused phone running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. A dedicated Facebook button on the Salsa allows users to share updates/pictures/videos with just one click. The Salsa sports a 3.4 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels.

HTC's Sense 2.1 further improves the impressive Gingerbread smartphone experience. The UI features a unique lock screen that lets you jump directly to a selected set of shortcuts. A 800 MHz Qualcomm processor powers the HTC Salsa, complimenting the processor is 512 MB of RAM.

The HTC Salsa comes with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and can record standard definition videos. There is also a front facing VGA camera for making video calls . Other camera features include Geotagging and Face Detect.

Design

The Salsa sports HTC's signature aluminum chassis with soft touch plastic trims on either ends. At 120 g, the Salsa is one of the lightest Android smartphones in the market. The rounded edges and slight lip near the mouthpiece renders the Salsa with a more natural hand grip.

Physical buttons on the HTC Salsa include a power button, volume rockers, a camera shutter and the back-lit Facebook Button. The Salsa features an accelerometer, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor.

Battery and Storage

The 1,520 mAh power cell allows the Salsa to go unplugged for much longer than normal Android smartphones. The HTC mobile supports 9.7 hrs of 2G and 8 hrs of 3G talk time. The Salsa comes with 512 MB internal memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB via microSD cards.

Connectivity and Features

The Salsa supports 3G, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and Bluetooth v3.0 connectivity and syncs via a microUSB port. A unique Facebook clock on the Salsa features a stream of updates acting as the ticker. Apart from the usual HTC Sense widgets like Calendar and Friend Stream, the Salsa is preloaded with a Facebook Chat widget.

When you click a photo on the HTC Salsa, the Facebook button glows as a reminder that it can be uploaded to Facebook. A single tap is all that is required for the image to be uploaded to your Facebook album. A similar action can share links, videos and even the song you are listening to on the Salsa's music app.

When the Facebook Button is held down for more than three seconds, the phone opens the Facebook Places mode, that allows the user to check in their current location. Other features in the Salsa include Wi-Fi tethering, Document viewer and notification bar access to wireless radios.
