This book contains solved papers for the general ability test of the IES exam. IES: G.S. & English (General Ability Solved Papers) covers the solved questions of General English and General Studies. General Abilities is the first test in the IES exam conducted by UPSC. It tests the English language skills and general awareness of topics like history, geography, political science, and general knowledge. This book is divided into two sections. The first section covers General English topics. These include word selection, identifying errors, sentence improvement, comprehension, logical sequence of sentences, logical sequence of words in sentences, relationships, synonyms, and antonyms. The general ability section covers Indian polity, Indian history, Indian geography and world geography, life science, sports, and miscellaneous topics. There is a topic-wise division of the papers, with solutions. Good care has been taken to keep the solutions and explanations accurate and error free. In addition to the solved papers, there is a practice set to try out the skills and knowledge acquired, while preparing for the exam.
