If Truth Be Told: A Monk's Memoir is an honest and straightforward account of Om Swami's life, one of the foremost spiritual leaders of India.

    Summary of the Book

If Truth be Told is an extraordinary memoir of the making of a spiritual life in today’s demanding, competitive, and baffling times. The book unravels the life story of Om Swami and his journey to becoming a monk. As an 18-year-old young boy, Om Swami headed to Australia to realize his worldly dreams and aspirations. He struggled to make his ends meet but two years down the line he was a multimillionaire earning $250,000 a year. He always had a burning desire to explore his spirituality. As an 8-year-old he saw a vision of God in a dream which transformed his life forever. This triggered off his desire to meet God and he practiced astrology, meditation and tantra in his pursuit to know God. Yet God was nowhere in sight, deeply frustrated he plunged into the worldly affairs to distract himself from the restlessness and commotion within. After spending several years in Australia he moved to India and led his life in solitude in the Himalayas. He battled death as he starved, faced the wrath of nature and wild animals. But finally his sadhana brought him to the ultimate realization – I am what I have been seeking, which became the basis of all his teachings. This astounding memoir is a must-read for those interested in the life and teachings of Om Swami.

The Extraordinary Memoir of Divine Swamiji

I feel very fortunate to write review of this special memoir of his Holiness , The Swamiji. My humble obeisance onto his lotus feet.

I was blessed and fortunate to come in contact with Dearest Swamiji thru Speaking Tree. I was immediately impressed by simplicity and depth of his spiritual wisdom. I happened to meet some of his earliest devotees and was perplexed to hear about his extraordinary in most hostile environment.

My first meeting with Swamiji was out of world experience for me, wh...

I knew I had to read this book and I did, I loved this book and finished it in two days, and after that I haven't had the desire to read any other self-help book. I wish to re-read it once again because I liked it so much. I strongly suggest that this book should be read. It has been an eye opener for me.

No words & fortunate to be in Swami ji's era.

Having read this book, i wonder can i review the Memoir ??

Then i switched on my " search mode" for appropriate words, but never succeeded...

Like other valuable views, the hangover of the book, each word, sentence, you live with it. Then you got to understand & value your life, how fortunate you are to be in Swami ji's era. I mean you can meet Him, see Him, hear Him... NOW....

Isn't it great... Jai Hooo . Swami ji.

    Truth touched my heart

The title of the book unveils its potential. It's simply outstanding and exceptionally well written. It reflects the truthfulness of the writer and deeper insights, which really inspired me to reflect on my inner truth. I have read many books but this is the first book in my life that I read in almost at one go. I found it extremely gripping with vigour to take me in highs and lows. I was floating in the zone which I have heard that existed but never knew that someone can actually pursue it i...

An absorbing & insightful journey to self-realization..

This slim book of about 200 pages is the memoir of Swamiji (an unusual non-traditionalist monk named Om swami ) and his amazing journey to self realization in this 21st century era. It was an UN-putdown-able book ..what is striking is the honesty and candidness of narration. It is a personal story of extra-ordinary faith and determination to realize divinity. The events are fast paced and factual rather than philosophic or prosaic. The book seamlessly transits from the urban to ancient and ba...

No less a narrative than the Upanishadic stories or the Itihasas or the Puranas

    Yes.
The memoir is no less a narrative than the Upanishadic stories in Swamiji's determination in realizing the Self.
The memoir is no less a narrative than the Itihasas in Swamiji's hardships, faith, will power and effort in both material and spiritual life.
The memoir is no less a narrative than the Puranas in Swamiji's helping us with his profound insights into the reality, in case we fail to grasp any lesson from the events of his life.

Actually it may be more, because, NOW, in our mi...

    An eye opener

Just finished reading the memoir and still cannot get out of the trance!
This book will definitely compel you to re-judge the way you are living your life. No fancy advises, no short-cuts-to-success, that's what I love about the book. Swamiji clearly says that this is 'his truth' and leaves you to find your own.
This, alongwith the youtube channel omswamitv, has made significant difference to my opinions about life.
Please accept my humble pranam Swamiji and continue to guide the lost souls.
