Sourcing information from various historical and military records, this book retells the story of the 18th century Mysore ruler, Tipu Sultan in a reverse chronological way from his death at his capital, Srirangapatna to his birth at Devanahalli through a chain of battles that were fought during his reign. These battles are brought alive through a travelogue of the author’s hiking trips through the now forgotten hills forts and battle fields that played a key role in the military life of Tipu Sultan. Containing over 170 present day photos, rare paintings and maps, this book brings out the conflict between Mysore and the English which is now known as Anglo-Mysore Wars and attempts throw more light on the tactical genius that was Tipu Sultan.
