Interesting viewpoints, but a tiring read

Prof. Vaidyanathan gives a very interesting analysis of the unincorporated sector in the Indian economy. It is a good beginning, and should lead to more academic and public interest in the subject. A collection of essays

The books deals into THE neglected aspect of Indian Economy: The unorganised sector. One gets a feeling that it is more a collection of essays, than a book with a unified theme.

Chapter on Non-Banking Financial Sector is insightful & questions our blind acceptance of western system of credit & financing.
The chapters on Bollywood & BCCI document the word of mouth wisdom.
One can empathize with his distrust on Trusts & NGO sector but I wish a deeper study.

Uninc is insightful and totally fr...

Short version of my review :
The book veers between clear insight and claims, backed with solid data and references on the one hand, and reads like a inflamed political speech in other parts. Sections 1-4 and 7 are a great read, providing a solid introduction to the scale of the informal sector in the country, its financing issues and the policy neglect they face. The author ingeniously est...

A myth buster about role of FII &FDI etc.in our growth rate. Unsung heroes not recognized by main stream media govt. etc possibly due to vested interest. A must read.
