In developing countries like India agriculture sector has enormous human and economic implications. What is the roel of backward and forward linkages in agricultural development. This book tries to make sense of policy and implementation barriers. The establishment of efficient backward and forward linkages plays an important role which determine the productionand distribution potential at a given time and space.
Among the issues the author addresses are, inpute management and distribution, production contribution, factor contribution, market contribution and growth of allied sectors. The study analyses the policies formulated and programmes implemented since the First Five Years Plan towards promotion of HYVs, fetilisers, and farm implements and their economic impact. The study is based on state-wise secondary data.

Dr. Rajagopal (b,1957) received the degree of Doctor of philosophy in Economics with specialisation in Agricultural Marketing from Ravishankar University, Madhya Pradesh, in 1984.
Dr. Rajagopal has to his credit 8 published books and about 70 research papers. He has carried out a number of research projects at the National Institute of Rural Development. Hyderabad, and conducted studies covering the states of Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and the North-East. Dr. Rajagopal is associated with many national and international learned societies. He is nominated Consultant for Small Industries Service Institute, Ministry of Industries, Government of India, in Hyderabad.
