Summary Of The Book

Indian Economy: For Civil Services Examinations presents a holistic overview of the shift in the global economy and its importance to India and its current situation, with separate chapters on the Indian economy and the evolution of the Indian economy.

Indian Economy: For Civil Services Examinations has an up-to-date and exam-oriented style with new and recent terms added. It has 22 chapters with lots of sub-chapters, including 2 separate chapters on Model Answers To Selected Questions and Economics Concepts And Terminologies. It has updated notes by most recent sources and is very useful for the civil services exam.

Some of the chapters in the book are Evolution Of The Indian Economy, Progress, Growth And Development, Economic Planning, Inflation and Business Cycle, and Human Development in India. Chapters on Financial Market, Inflation and Business Cycle have been thoroughly revamped. The book contains numerical updates from India 2013, Economic Survey (2012-13), Union Budget (2013-14) and the Railway Budget (2013-14). Mentions the topic but does not explain

Pros: this book mentions almost all the relevant topics in the field of economy especially for civil services exam.
Cons: does not explain the topic in , as claimed " lucid manner". It is mere copy and pasting of some e-sources available on the net into the book without even the thought of giving any connection to previous text. ( i have myself verified this).
Besides numerous typos, grammatical errors, one can find repetition (same text written twice in some topics).
If u glance through forw...

Improper Haphazard Binding

Ordered this book... found that half of chapter 12 is after chapter 14... chapter 13 is in between 12 and 15... though all pages are there... it would be a pain to study these chapters coherently...

don't wanna reorder as it would waste a week for me...

For other: Please do check if all chapters are in order when the delivery guy delivers this book else return ASAP.

In terms of Content: It is a must have for civil services. 1 less star due to the binding issue.

Must Have for UPSC

Well written book. The story of Indian Economics sounds like a story in this book.
Well laid chapters and descriptions.

The most amazing feature of the book are the references on each page which help us to get the required sources for further reading.
I bought this book just for knowledge instead for any exam preparation so even causual readers should give it a try.

Bible for UPSC, in Economics section.

Firstly, thanx to flipkart, they give it to me just a day after release of book. There are so many who talk a loud for NCERT but let me make you sure that this book is 10 times more feasible than later one. No doubt NCERT is most recommended fodder for UPSC but if you have studied in your 11th & 12th seriously, there is no need to revise a school level material repeatedly. Simply, go through 'Ramesh Singh's"...
