The Indian financial system is a jungle of laws and regulations, institutions, and markets in which it’s easy to get lost. The Indian Financial System: Markets, Institutions And Services serves to help you navigate better through the different elements of the system.
Summary Of The Book
The Indian Financial System: Markets, Institutions And Services is a guide around the different aspects of the Indian financial system. Engaging with the system requires a thorough knowledge of markets, institutions, regulations and laws, liabilities and claims, and transactions. And at a time when the global financial crisis is demonstrating its powerful influence on all these different aspects, it’s vital to know how the system works.
The book’s objective, right from its very first edition, is simply to provide a holistic overview of the Indian economy. Academicians, students, professionals, and especially those who are preparing to enter the economy will benefit greatly by reading this book.
The Indian financial system is regulated across insurance, banking, capital markets, and other sectors by independent bodies. The government itself also acts as the regulator in a number of sectors. The financial and banking system in India is regulated by the Reserve Bank of India.
Cooperative banks, regional rural banks, and commercial banks comprise the financial system in India. When it comes to financial institutions, India follows a two-tier structure with 13 financial institutions at the national level and 46 at the state level. By understanding this large system, one is better equipped to navigate their way around it. And, that’s the intention of The Indian Financial System: Markets, Institutions And Services.
This is the third edition of the book. It has been significantly revised and new chapters have been added. The latest changes in rules and regulations, and new amendments have also featured in the book. The readers will find important discussions on topics such as systematic investment plans, risk management, financial inclusion, and reverse mortgage loans. The contents of the book have been divided into 5 parts, namely Financial System, Financial Markets, Financial Institutions, Financial Services, and Financial Regulation.
