  • Description
It is fashionable among intellectuals to assert that dharma traditions lacked any semblance of unity before the British period, and that the contours of contemporary Hinduism were bequeathed to us by our colonial masters. Such arguments routinely target Swami Vivekananda, a key interlocutor who shattered many deeply rooted prejudices against Indian civilization. They accuse him of having camouflaged various alleged 'contradictions' within traditional Hinduism, and charge him with having appropriated the principles of Western religion to 'manufacture' a unified world view and a set of practices known today as Hinduism.Rajiv Malhotra offers a systematic rejoinder to such views and articulates the holographic understanding of reality that grounds Hindu dharma.

Indra’s Net a comprehensive and synoptic view of the Glory that was and is India, its integrity and spirit

To understand the advancement of any nation it is essential to know its cultural and spiritual history. Every nation has its own genius which marks the trend and course of its evolution, internal and external. The Indian genius lies in its religion and spirituality, rooted in the Vedas, considered eternal and without any authorship and sung by Seers who were mantra-drashtas.
In the course of more than three millennia of Indian philosophical, spiritual and cultural history, there were many gi...

    A Masterpiece

I have read two books by Rajiv Malhotra – ‘Breaking India’ and ‘Being Different’ and Indra’s Net is third book by same author. This book is serious work. Indra’s Net is for those who are genuinely interested in knowing the correct history and interpretations of Hindu civilization and are willing and open minded to imbibe those thoughts in their ordinary lives as their age old customs, live those thoughts and pass on to next generation in their pristine originality. As with every work of his, ...

Exposes a viral yet seemingly innocuous trend to undermine India's heritage

Swami Vivekananda was the greatest proponent of Hinduism in the 20th Century. Many westerners were influenced and compelled by this works and this resulted in Hinduism gaining credibility in the West. To undermine this, certain groups with vested interests are trying to malign him and thus disparage his works.

They have tried to establish some hallucinatory, whimsical links between his works & Western literature. Saying that 'Karma Yoga was inspired from Western work-ethics' laughable. With...

    Brilliant book

The book connects one to the basics about what is the original concept of Hindu religion and her great thinkers namely Swami Vivekanand. The book is really helpful to anyone who want to know about Hindu philosophy. A very interesting book.
I purchased hard copy of the book. It is big book for me but light in weight. The cover is simply fantastic and it highlights the concept of Indra's net.

    Amazing! Must Read.

    Amazing !
Must read to know our inherent strengths, our past, and for a new outlook.
It describes how the life is coherent with unity, and continuity of the Yogic and Vedantic tradition.
Very interesting to see how the universe is a web of connections and inter-dependencies and how can it affect our lives, physical and emotional well being.
