If you have anything below Intel E5800 then only upgrade to this CPU. This will produce a lot of heat , 4 cores aren't less for an older system and they produce a large amount of heat. First i equiped this with intel stock cooler, the temp was easily reaching 90+, i reapplied the thermal paste, now it takes some time too reach 90+. Then i need to buy a seperate Zebronics lga775 cooler, used it and applied the Tim came with it, now under extremely heavy load it can't go past to 78, I know this...

The processor works very well, huge improvement over my earlier core 2 Duo, esp performance of games and working on VM machines, multi core is a must for VM and today's Apps and games. No need for any special cooling Heat sink/Fan, just make sure you clean the processor and the Fan/heat sink and apply a good quality thermal paste and you are done no heating issues at all, tested the chip for 24 hours straight with heavy usage. However will all used goods, its your luck to get a good working ...
