This is a nice processor. It is a budget processor. It runs very calm and cool. I like it
I am using a Gigabit mother board

Its a great processor in lower range with great functionality. I bought it in 3200 from outside market. You can do all of the daily life things with this processor.
I coupled it with a Gigabyte h61m s1 and 4 gb 1333 mhz RAM.
Windows experience index is 6.8 for processor which is quite impressive. Go for it.

But about heat yes its heats pretty well Under normal conditions without more than 5% load temp 35-40 c and at heavy load such as games or apps goes to 45-55 c so beware that stock cooler is not too much good as well as thermal paste

I had to configure all the above components under 11K and not compromise on my main purpose that is casual gaming and normal pc usage. This processor's architecture is almost similar to intel 3rd generation processors, only draw back is it supports upto ddr3-1333 with hyper threading disabled. It has Gpu that is useful in Hd video playback and it does pretty well with full hd videos.

I just got 3 words to say .... Go For It !!!
Excellent processor with a combination of gigabyte mobo. It works like charm

First of all, i3 is different architecture. If this atom and i3 has same config. even then i3 will beat it 9 ways to sunday. And second of all, the difference will be night and day. With i3, you getter better intergrated graphics to run 1080p videos so you can run it as htpc also.
But not this.
Only advantage is power consumption.
I am giving it a 3 star for it performance/power.
