I highly recommend this book to all

I received this book within three days of placing the order as promised on the website. I have read the first four chapters so far and simply love this book. The first chapter on the historical background is also wonderful.

It is clearly evident to me that the author has an amazing insight into each and every word of the constitution-for e.g. the chapter on the philosophy of the constitution delves on each word in the Preamble explaining their meaning and significance. He also quotes opinion...

If you can read Chetan Bhagat's book, you CAN read this too!

I chanced upon this on the best seller list and was surprised to find a book on a drab subject making to Flipkart's best-seller list. Flipkart delivered the book within 72 hours of placing the order (as usual) :)

About the Book:

Many reviewers have said it is highly helpful for preparation of competitive exams to understand Indian polity, etc. which is true. However, this book is not solely targeted to IAS/IPS/competitive exams aspirants. It is meant for every layman citizen of India who ...

Decent Read

This is book is mainly for the people who are preparing for competitive exams. The language of the book is mostly in legal genre, for people who have not read these type of books earlier, will take sometime to get the hang of the language. I wouldn't say it has grooving narration, but it isn't bad either.

Headings by the side of the paragraphs make it a little cumbersome, you fail to make out that you have moved on to a next topic. The book covers almost everything. It also touches upon the...

Regarding Edition of book

The usefulness of the book can be ascertained by the reviews provided by the other users. I would like to make a point on the edition of the book available:

Till August 2012, The book has its latest edition as 20th edition, which was published in 2008 itself.

From 2009, the book has undergone only reprints (15 reprints of 20th edition till August 2012) and no changes in matter at all..., definitely the only addition in the editions being the price tag !

I would therefore recommend one and ...

A Political Science student must read this book.
Its provides the fundamental ideas and workings of our Constitution.

A great book to start with

It was my first order on the flipkart, and i received the same on time even at the last corner of India near Indo-Nepal Border.
Secondly, the book is also a brilliant effort by the author to allow us to peep into our constitution and to gain the basic as well as the commanding knowledge of our rights and duities the most.
I will suggest the book to every citizen of India to get into touch to our Constitution.

Not Indian at all.....

I had purchased this book for my Dad but being an avid book reader I couldn't resist myself from reading a few pages. I was surprised to see the degree of impartiality with which this book was written. If you are a lover of history and read books on history written by Indian readers, you are sure to end up with a single conclusion, "BIASED". This books is less of a book on constitution and more of a book on history especially how Mr. Basu compares the Indian constitution with various other co...
