it is the best book for fluid mechanics . those who are preparing for GATE choose this one...classical problems and solutions are available, it has a good set of problems..Prof S K SOM explain concepts in mathematical way so readers need some basic concept in vector calculus and differential equation.

This book is referred by some GATE toppers and now the faculties of my college that this book is really a funda clearing book for GATE/IES or any engineering student to clear the base concepts of FM....Books like Fluid Mech(FM) by F.M White sometimes become hard to understand due to some difficult words one can go through while reading..but for Indian Engg students its one of the best book by any indian author one can go through

If your aim is not just pass the course but to make your fundamentals VERY STRONG, I suggest this book. Every topic is covered very beautifully. For example in first chapter if you see the definition of fluid is defined technically in a very beautiful manner. And no words for its dynamics part: Equations are derived and explained nicely. Each and every part of equation is explained with its physical meaning. Very practical examples are used to make reader thorough in the subject. Nice reading...

Excellent book with wonderful concepts and good approach as well

*This book is highly narrative and detailed.

*Not recommended for the last night study as the information is too overwhelming for last night study. Many places, the authors have themselves pointed out that reading that particular section is not important and may be omitted without loss of continuity.
