D. N. Majumdar was a highly respected Indian anthropologist.
Dhirendra Nath Majumdar was born in 1903. After obtaining a Master’s Degree in Anthropology, he joined the Lucknow University as a Lecturer. Later, he studied at Cambridge University for his Ph.D. When he returned to India, he again joined the faculty of Lucknow University. He was a pioneer in the field of anthropology in India. He specialized in social anthropology. He focused on tribal societies and studied tribal societies in transition. He founded the Ethnographic and Folk Culture Society in UP.
Triloki Nath Madan is an anthropologist and a professor.
