Introduction To Robotics is a comprehensive informative book by S K Saha that deals with the fundamentals involved in creating a robot and making it work.
Summary Of The Book
S K Saha’s Introduction To Robotics is an exhaustive book on robotics that deals with the underlying notions of robotics and everything involved with it. It is designed for the undergraduate and postgraduate students, therefore covers both the aspects of analyses and applications pertaining to robotics. Written in a lucid manner, the book explores the underlying basics of designing, building, and maintaining a robot.
The book is divided into twelve chapters and the first chapter begins with an Introduction of the subject. Other topics covered in the next eleven chapters are Actuators, Serial Robots, Computers for Robots, Sensors, Motion Planning, Kinematics, Control, Transformations, Recursive Robot Dynamic, Statics, and Dynamics.
Introduction To Robotics comes with numerous salient features including the fact that it offers a detailed coverage of the all the topics related to Robotics. Besides that it provides exhaustive exploration on Drives, Robot Control, and Robot Applications. The author has included case studies for the benefit of the students that provide guidelines on how to build a robot system. These case studies discuss those robot systems that have been developed by students. A unique chapter on Recursive Robot Dynamics is included in this competitive book that discusses methodology for automatic generation of dynamic algorithms.
The book also includes a variety of questions and exercises. These are web based questions that are provided at the end of each chapter for which students will have to search the web for answers. Others are MATLAB based exercises, again, provided at the end of the chapters. Moreover, text boxes are included in each chapter with fascinating “Know-How” or “Did You Know” facts. 100 Solved Examples and 141 Chapter End Exercise Questions help in enhancing the knowledge of the students.
All the concepts related to robotics are explained in great detail and that too in a simple and easy to understand language. Additional illustrations, numerous exercises, and lots of examples make this book even more valuable for students as well as teachers. Besides students of undergraduate and postgraduate preparing for competitive examinations, the book is also beneficial for practicing engineers and it can be used an instructional manual for adopting, designing, and maintaining a robot.
