While he was in the employ of the Compagnie des Indes Orientales, he made a number of voyages to India, collecting ingredients and formulas for his sealing wax and inks. Emerald of Chivor, a bluish tint with green highlights, obtained thanks to the twinkling of its golden glitter, shines brightly for an ever renewed pleasure of writing.
